Colorado River flows back to seasonal normal
Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges in California
Clear and sunny in the Central Valley region Thursday with patchy drizzle, mostly sunny this afternoon making way for possibility of showers this evening for San Diego watershed region, no hazardous weather and no tropical cyclone activity expected within the next 48 hours.
Streamflows in the north coastal Region 1 watershed are a mix of below normal and normal, shifting to above seasonal normal by San Francisco Bay Region 2 and central coast watershed Region 3. Flows in Los Angeles and San Diego remain much above the seasonal normal with a couple of stations reporting record high flows for this date. Colorado River has taken an up turn, the majority of stations reporting seasonal normal with a couple of canals allowed to run much above seasonal normal, even a record high this day. One station is still reporting low in the Colorado River, 3rd percentile flow near Blythe, New River is still running the extreme low, 1st percentile near Westmorland. See brown tags on the map to the right for the extreme low flows.
The drought map has toned down in the north, coastal watershed Region 1's southwest Humboldt County has been downgraded again, from moderate drought to below normal. Colorado River watershed remains below normal through Lakeside, Imperial and San Bernardino Counties. No extreme high flows or flood events are recorded in the monitoring network as of this report.
