Tropical Storm John delivers life threatening flash flooding for Mexico

Another calm weather day for California, according to the National Weather Service. No hazardous weather outlooks in effect as of this report.

The National Hurricane Center has issued an advisory on Tropical Storm John, located just inland near the coast of southern Mexico. As of 5 am update this morning, life-threatening flash flooding is possible across portions of southern and southwestern Mexico during the next few days.

Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges in California
Coastal and interior streamflows remain normal to much above the seasonal norm in all but the Colorado River watershed of the south state interior. Record low flow levels continue for the Alamo River near Niland and New River near Westmoreland. The drought map shows no more drought in Colorado River watershed, the east border of Riverside and Imperial Counties rated below normal as controlled releases on the Colorado River are maintained at much below seasonal normal levels.

The latest HAB report from California Water Boards released Friday, September 20 has three Danger-level advisories remaining over from the previous week, Contra Loma Reservoir, Lake Anza and Big Break Regional Shoreline boat launch remain on the Danger list. Toxins from the algae in this water can harm people and kill pets. There are no HAB Warning advisories listed in this report, twenty-two HAB caution advisories.
