Severe drought in North Coast Region 1 watershed

Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges in California
Clouds are clearing off toward a sunny day for the Central Valley watershed, streamflows running seasonal normal through the San Joaquin Valley shifting up to above normal flows for the Central Coast, upshifting again to much above normal, higher than 90th percentile through Los Angeles and San Diego watershed regions. An area of much below normal water levels persists in the south coastal area of Humboldt County, prompting a severe drought rating. Colorado River watershed remains at a seasonal low water level, Colorado River and New River rated low on several stations. The drought rating for Region 9 Colorado River remains at below normal, impacting Lakeside, Imperial and San Bernardino Counties. Record low flow continues on New River near Westmoreland, and another low rating, 2nd percentile at Calexico. Alamo River near Niland is rated below normal Friday, a tenth percentile value here. No extreme high flows or flood events are recorded in the monitoring network as of this report.

See the brown tags on the map to the right for low flow levels in the 1st percentile range.
