NWS: Heat advisory 11 am to 11 pm

Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by NWS Hanford 946 am PDT Tues Oct 1

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TUESDAY TO 11 PM PDT THURSDAY...Hot conditions expected with temperatures reaching up to 104 degrees during the period. Moderate heat risk expected.

IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during high heat events.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Hazardous Spill File
Contra Costa County: Richmond vandals may have got more than they bargained for when they opened a manhole on Brookside Drive a couple of weeks ago. The open sewer line belched out 1000 gallons of sewage onto the street. The incident is included in Hazardous Spill File, here.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Riverside County: Jurupa Community Services District issued a Boil Water Advisory yesterday following a positive E.coli bacteria test revealed during recent routine testing. Jurupa Community Services District provides drinking water for 133,292 persons from a groundwater well source. The facility operates with a clean record, no EPA violations or non-compliance in the last twelve quarterly reporting periods.

See the brown tags on the map to the right for low flow levels in the 1st percentile range, some of the lowest levels recorded on this date in eighty-one years of monitoring New River near Westmoreland and 63 years monitoring the Alamo River near Niland. No extreme high flows or flood events are recorded in the monitoring network as of this report.
